Day Off...

Having a day off is always a good idea or is it?

As a self proclaimed workaholic, I don't have the easiest time trying to take time off. What usually happens is that I end up working for at least half the day.  Once you pop you can't stop syndrome, or otherwise known as email addiction is usually my downfall. I always tell myself that I will have a quick check, to ensure there are no emergencies... Four hrs later I am still sitting in from of my laptop making sure there are no emergencies.

The whole thing lends an air of decadent self deprecation and utter self importance  to the situation, if you think about it. In other words it's rubbish, plain and simple... It's not a working day and it's not a day off either. The worse bit about it, is that it's self imposed... Why?
Hmm, well let's see... Not trusting others to get the work done. Boredom, expectations... It could be due to a number of things... As for me I geniouly like working as mad as it sounds.

I must admit though, I seriously enjoyed sleeping till 9:00am this morning. OK I got up at my usual 5:00am to remind someone in my team to initiate the team conference call... Quickly checked emails... Thankfully there were no emergencies and went back to sleep, till 9:00am.... Ahhhh

Having a slow lazy morning it reminded me how important it is, even momentarily to take a breather.
Take a bit of time to luxuriate, sipping a good coffee while reading a good book on a school day... and for a change I followed through, I did it... I am enjoying a day off... So far...

At some point through the day I thought I would write a short note about having a day off and post it on my blog... My original idea was brilliant, at least in my head  and then I started to type and all my original thoughts went out of the window... Blank, nada, all gone. Maybe this is what they call a writers block... It's actually more of a case sounding better in thought. Nevertheless, here you go, an array of utter nonsense to fill the day. I think I will go back to my coffee and good book and spare you having to read more word dribble. Assuming of course that someone is actually going to read this, how arrogant of me.

Carry on with the monkey business it's your day off...
