My sky...

Out of my window the sky is my sea, the clouds are moving fast like waves crushing against other clouds. The planes like boats float by cutting the clouds in half making their own patterns in the sky. They move with a purpose and a direction unlike the clouds that fall prey to the winds, messing up with the designs and shapes I have made up. There goes my hippopotamus; it’s now turned into a blob. A cobra is sliding by, and two heads kissing, there is a bird flapping its wings that turned into a fish as the winds decided to reshape it.

The winds, I wonder how many stories they carry with them. How many whispers of love? How many cries? Listen; if you listen carefully you can make it out. Hash, be quiet, the murmurs of the sky can take you places only if you allow yourself to be transported to far away worlds and far away stories. I can hear laughter, mixed with children’s play sounds; I can hear a mother calling her son in for supper; a little girl crying having fallen and scrapped her knee; I can hear a grandfather telling stories to his grandchildren, stories about dragons and mighty warriors.

The wind keeps shifting, changing direction, changing the sounds, changing the shapes in the sky but the planes keep coming one after the other carrying hopes and dreams with them. Someone’s heart is beating faster looking forward to meeting a love one; a student trying to hide a nervous smile; a businessman putting away his laptop makes sure that he has not forgotten the gift for the daughter that is waiting for him at home; an elderly couple holding hands in anticipation of seeing the son, daughter in law and grandchildren they haven’t seen in years; a young migrant worker surveying the city below wondering where he will make his fortune and how long it will be before he is able to send some money back home.

The planes keep coming bringing people to their destinations. The winds keep blowing bringing water drops to my window. I smile as a cloud shaped as smiling face waves at me. I wave back and I close my laptop.
