Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur or KL as it’s more commonly known is a jewel in its own right.
The city is a sensation of many tastes, a focal point for the new Malaysia. Showcasing a rich British colonial past and a shiny modern and quite cosmopolitan present.
The past is everywhere intermingling with KL’s busy streets, glass office towers and bustling shopping centers and tranquil botanical parks.
A cultural meeting place for many cultures… a multinational market place that promises to carry Malaysia proudly into a bright future…
It’s true what they say about Malaysian Hospitality… Malaysian people are happy, smiling and ready to help whenever they can. At least the ones I met. One strange thing that I couldn’t understand was why they were staring at me so much. I think they acted the same with other western women as well. The staring bordered being rude, they didn’t bother you but it did feel uncomfortable to be started by men all over the place. I spoke to other women that have been to Malaysia and they had similar experiences. It’s strange because KL at least is quite multicultural so local man they are bound to be used by now to seeing western women. Well this is a mystery to…
The Petronas Towers where really impressive indeed. After waiting on line for over two hours in the morning, we finally made it to secure a couple of passes for the sky bridge and the wait was worth it, even though we were falling asleep every time we found ourselves sitting in a comfortable seat. We took enough photos to remind us that we were there.
Kuala Lumpur is a fascinating destination. One that I will be visiting again and allowing more time to explore it. Dashing around the city in one day only scratches the surface of the surface. I would love to experience its night life, from what I am hearing it’s quite impressive (sigh)… My relationship, with the jewel of SE Asia will be renewed I am sure in the future. Until then I have many nice memories
