Valentines Day…

With Valentine’s day approaching at the speed of lighting, marketing firms and individual business are bombarding us with things to buy and things to do. At the same time there is plenty advice on from various sources. What we should be doing, what we should be doing; how we should be dressing, thing to avoid saying. The scenario is pretty much ready to wear. All the individual has to so is choose his/her package and will be ready to live the red dream.
Personally, I have never been keen on Valentines day. Not because of what it portraits, but because it’s become just like Christmas and any other holiday over commercialized.
And highly competitive too! If you don’t get flowers and cards in the office by your loved one then you are pitied by the other women in the office. Generally it’s a big show… it really doesn’t matter if what it’s all about as long as it’s red, sweet and big.
So we end up paying double for dinners and flowers on this one day to pledge our love.
The thing is I don’t need one day to do nice things for my bf. I give him gifts and surprises all the time. We try to keep the romance alive every day, so for us Valentines day doesn’t really mean much. What we celebrate is what got us together our Anti Valentines day… Threes year ago we got together to celebrate an Anti-Valentines day and we have been together since.
So if possible block the marketing attempts to make you part of a larger statistic. Go out there day, tomorrow and everyday there after and celebrate your own Valentines day with your love ones…
