Back to the Dam…

After a long 6 months of being away from fair Amsterdam, I took advantage of my bf absence for a weekend to have my own wild and wicket time back in the Dam.
Armed with only the naughtiest intention in mind I boarded the flight back to the land of cheese, clogs and elongated vowels. From there on everything is a blur…
Friday night: Decadent mojitos at the ARC, a quick but delicious midnight sack (does a kebab qualify for a snack) at “Gentleman’s” and finishing up at the Mansion.
Brief encounters: Vincent the “Let’s thank God”gay man at the kebab shop, the Harogate boys trying to speak Dutch, Selim the cute Turkish boy at the mansion interested in interregional peace and relations. The taxi driver’s interest in my marital status (very tempted to publish his phone number for all to use).
Passing out at 4:30 am and getting up at 9:00am… ouch that hurts!
Saturday: Art class at color me mime at 11:30??? Drawing a Cheetah on a dish just because I was told it was too difficult to do… yes I am stubborn… Shopping around town and almost blowing over 1000.00 Euros in Gucci bags, but thanks to my devil advocate my Friday L I saved that money… quick lunch at our fav Caribbean restaurant. We still like it even though the service is extremely slow… we forgive them as the margarita’s are fab . Mad dash to get changed and run to the Arabic lounge for dinner… Dinner at the Arabic lounge was cozy and fun… infused with Moroccan spices and the rhythms of Bely dancing. Next time I will have to try their desert too… Finishing up the night at the ice bar. Coffee martinis are a lot of fun, especially after a couple of bottle of red wine and a few Vodka cocktails in between and let’s not forget the Amaretto shots… Frozen pictures, frozen fingers, frozen glasses, let the Vodka warm you… and the trance tunes transport you to a different dimension… An other amazing night, filled with interesting conversation, singing and dancing and lots of laughs…
Sunday: Waking up late, late branch, yummy! The Blue man show, a good laugh. an experience in Dutch. Dinner at the Bazar, quick nap before we ended up at a friends house party to watch the Super bowl. I have to admit the whole day was a blur… I remember going through the motions, but the details are still escaping me…

It was really good to see so many of my friends again! It really felt like I have never left the city… the air of familiarity and the feeling of knowing where the next turn will take me gave me that familiar comfort feeling! I had an amazing weekend, which was only made possible from all the friends that gave their time and effort to entertain me. I got everything I was bargaining for and much more! From the time I landed to the time I departed Amsterdam I enjoyed every minute. I am still feeling it today a week later ;-)…
Thanks guys for the fantastic time and I promise to be back sooner this time. Love and hugs…
