Potpourri…

I knew this summer would be a potpourri of life changes… and I am not only referring to my upcoming move from Amsterdam to London. In many ways the move provided the fuel that I needed to ignite several other transitions. Transitions on emotional, psychological and social levels… I think by trying to complete my cycle of life called Amsterdam, I lost the rose tinted glasses that masked many truths around me. As they say reality can be harsh, especially if it’s a reality that has to do with your own self. I had forgotten for a while to visit my internal mirror to check my own reflection from the inside out.
Every spring we go through our house and we clear out all the unwanted items. How often do we perform a spring cleaning on ourselves? How often do we apply inward rhetoric and challenge our own views and believes? Usually, only when those ideas, views and believes are challenged by someone.
This voluntary spring cleaning is very cathartic. You will be surprised how many things you can discover about yourself. You can think of it as a journey through the highway of memories with stops along the way to dispose of trash you have accumulated along the way.
The route to inner self cleansing is not as easy as I originally imagined. For starters I didn’t exactly know where to start or how to get to the end result. I knew I had to take this journey but the logistics around it were blurred. Being organized and keeping a To-Do list wasn’t much of a help this time around. In the end I woke up one day and certain things where just clearer… I don’t know if it was divine intervention or change in the daily diet… it was like unleashing a creature within that was more than happy to help me decipher my own life mysteries…

Can you multitask?
Inward time travel and outward daily travel, in the end you have yourself an interesting salad of thoughts and events…
Because time will not stand still while you swiping the dirt from the brain cells.

Time indeed is going by very fast when you have fun and are busy… It’s been a non stop race to get things ready for the move and finally I am happy to announce that our personal affects where safely packed and removed last Friday.
Out flat in Amsterdam is quite empty and we are living out of suitcases pretending we are on a business trip. All in all it’s quite a laugh digging in a suitcase every morning to find the bare necessities.

In the mean time, life in Amsterdam has been fantastic! Filled with sunlit days, dinners and drinks with Friends, boat rides in the canals, pick nicks at the park and catching up with the latest movie releases in the theaters.
We have less than two weeks left and the plan is to make the most of it… even I who usually is more conservative when it comes to drinking escapades I have let my hair down and loosen the belt… As I am being reminded all the time life should be lived and not experienced from the side lines…
